Julia Maria Gruber lives and works as a photographer and visual artist in Vienna. Their artistic practice focuses on socio-critical and political issues, in particular the (in)visibility of different realities of life: How are these socially repressed or politically shaped? Who is granted recognition or space within existing norms and conventions? They’re interested in narratives that unfold in the interstices of past and present: How do histories and social struggles repeat themselves? How do history and our own past shape the present?
